Music by The Piano Brothers

Clair was born November 6, 1933 at Roaring Creek in Avery County, North Carolina.  She passed away quietly at Hildebrand Care Center in Canon City, Colorado on March 27, 2020.

Clair moved to Colorado with her family in 1947 and was a long time resident of Fairplay.  She loved to hunt for arrowheads and made beautiful “trails end” pictures from the many arrowheads and pieces of flint she found.  She also enjoyed searching for artifacts, antiques and other treasures.  She did beautiful embroidery work on pillow cases and tea towels and was very talented at making many artful things with her hands.  She may best be remembered for her well-manicured little house on Bogue Street in Fairplay, and for whistling everywhere she went.

Clair is survived by one sister, Shirley Carpenter of Spruce Pine, North Carolina; Nephews, Russell Carpenter, Dan Miller, and nieces Julia Coleen (Carpenter) Hughes and Ginger Greene.  She was preceded in death by one sister Frances (Greene) Miller and one brother J.C. Greene and nephews Gary Miller, Steve Carpenter and Ricky Carpenter.
