Richard J. Calvert, 65, of Leadville, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his home. He was born on January 27, 1954 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Harry and Louis (Hudson) Calvert. He married Loretta (Lucero) Calvert on October 26, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rick graduated from Lafayette High School in 1973 and worked for masonry contractors and for Farmland Industries in Kansas City, Missouri. He moved to Colorado in 1987 and worked in the construction masonry field. He then began his own company, Calvert Masonry Inc. and then went on to work as an engineer. In 1996, he built his own home in Leadville, which included an outside fireplace, garden and waterfall where he enjoyed spending time.
Rick had many hobbies including playing basketball in high school, camping, boating, fishing, snowmobiling and all types of music including classic rock. One of his biggest hobbies was fixing up old cars. He was still working on restoring a 1929 Coupe and had completely restored  a 1966 Impala SS. He also loved riding his Harley with his wife Loretta and going to drag races with his children. He was a loving father, husband and a generous person that will be missed.

Rick is survived by his wife Loretta; children Brandy Calvert Compton, Eric Trujillo, Ashley Calvert and her three children, Skye Calvert and Ricky Calvert (Maria Serna); grandchildren Colton Hoover, Mackenzie Hoover, Haiden Calvert, Fernando Calvert, Ricky Calvert Jr., Hailey Calvert and Ariana Calvert; sister Judy (Tom) McMillan; brother Larry (Jan) Calvert; father Harry Calvert and numerous nieces and nephews. He is proceeded by his mother, brother Terry Calvert, mother and father in law Tony and Bessie Lucero and his brother in law Gerald Lucero.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2:30 pm at the Cornerstone Church in Leadville, Colorado.

Rick was such an awesome role model, not only to his children but also the community.

I remember spendimg many nights over as a child great times were spent with the family.many Laughs and life lessons were taught. You will truely be missed but i know in my heart you will be watching from above an still guiding all of us in the right direction. To the Calvert family stay strong and live life as he would have wanted you too.

Loretta and family...We wanted to be with you to celebrate Rick's life this Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather will not allow us to do so. Please know that our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family in this trying time of need. Rick was an amazing man who married this amazing woman and had an amazing family.
