Sharon Ann King, 75, a resident of Buena Vista, Colorado since 1969, passed away on Thursday, July, 19, 2018 in Westminster, Colorado. She was born February 18, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Chester and Irene (Przybylski) Drewitz. She met her first husband, Leo W. Buser, at a military dance and they were married in February 1965 in Millwaukee. Leo was in the Navy and after being discharged, they moved to Fairview, Kansas. After his death, Sharon married Edwin Guffy and moved to Buena Vista, where she has resided since 1969. She married James Edward King June 15, 1977 in Salida, Colorado. He passed away October 1, 1997. They enjoyed Harley riding, antiquing, Jeeping and attending gun shows.
Sharon attended Notre Dame High School and graduated in 1961. She attended Spencerian College and graduated with a business degree. She also obtained an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. She worked as a checker at Vista Market, a teller at World Savings, and a waitress at Tisings and Gianelli’s restaurants. She retired from the Colorado Department of Corrections as a correctional officer with 20 years of service. After retirement, she worked as a bartender at the VFW and with a security service in Phoenix that allowed her to see the Super Bowl. She was a huge sports fan, and her favorite teams were the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies.
She is survived by her sister Carlene Bialcik; her daughters Darcy Miracle, Dawn Guffy (Buddy Nelson) and DeeAnn Ritzmann (Ed); grandchildren Sarah Miracle, Ryan Miracle, Zachary Miracle, Micah Miracle, Steven Salazar (DeOnna), Dallas Nelson, Clay Nelson, Desiree Hootson (Kenny), Brady Ritzmann and Kendra Ritzmann; five great grandchildren and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Leo Buser and James King, son Darren Guffy and grandson Tyler Salazar.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Buena Vista with Reverend Father Steve Partlet as Celebrant. Interment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Buena Vista. The Runyan-Kent Funeral Home of Buena Vista assisted the family with arrangements.
