Walter Vadim Mosogovoy was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia of White Russian parents, in 1930. He attended the White Russian Academy in Yugoslavia. He lived in Germany during World War II and graduated from Oberealschule in Berlin in 1948. Walter emigrated to the United States in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Marylee Mohr in 1954.
Walter attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics and as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force, as a nuclear research officer. He was a member of the engineering honorary society, Tau Beta Phi. He worked as a physicist in the United States in the nuclear power industry. He was Vice President of Gulf Oil Company, Eastern Hemisphere in London and was President of the International Petroleum Negotiators from 1985-1986. He was a member of the American Nuclear Society, Retired Military Officers Association of America, Society of Russian former Cadets, National Rifle Association of America, Orders and Medal Society of America and the American Legion.
Walter is survived by his wife Marylee; daughters Kathy Odell and Annette Swope; son Paul Mosgovoy; grandchildren Holly and Nicholas Odell, Mitchell Mosgovoy, Jadie Aranda and Dustin Mosgovoy and great grandchildren Michael and Jocelyn Aranda. He was preceded in death by his brother George, and his parents.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Bailey-Kent Funeral Home in Leadville, Colorado. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:30 am at the All Saints of Russia Orthodox Church, 3274 E. Iliff Avenue, Denver, Colorado. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Mosgovoy family plot in Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80210.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter’s name to a charity of choice.
