Chester Dale “Chet” Magill, 84 of Leadville, Colorado since 1966 passed away at his residence in Leadville on Thursday, February 26, 2015.  He was born on July 11, 1930 to Raymond and Frances (Wahlert) Magill in Exira, Iowa.  He married Ardith J. (Reitz) Magill on September 6, 1953 in Sterling, Colorado.  
Chet graduated from Sterling High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was honorably discharged.  He then worked many years for Public Service where he retired.  Chet was a lifetime member and Past Exalted Ruler at Leadville Elks Lodge, #236, a lifetime member of Two Mile High VFW Post, #859 of Leadville and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, #91 of Leadville.  He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and being with his family.
Chet is survived by his wife Ardith, Son Randy (Kelli) Magill of Billings, Montana; daughter Laure (Peter) Frank of Independence, Kansas; grandsons Buck (Bernadette) Frank of Wichita, Kansas, USAF, Rusty (Georgia) Frank of Spangdahlem, Germany, USAF, Justin (Katie) Frank of Buena Vista, Colorado, Brent Magill of Grand Junction, Colorado; granddaughter Jennifer Magill of Grand Junction; and great granddaughters Dezirray Frank of Buena Vista and Anij Magill of Grand Junction.  He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Bailey-Kent Funeral Home, Leadville with Leadville Elks Lodge, #236 performing the Elks Burial Honors.  Burial will follow at Elk’s Rest Cemetery, Leadville, with the United States Air Force and American Legion Post 55 of Buena Vista, Colorado performing Military Honors.  A reception will follow the burial services at Leadville Elks Lodge, #236.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Elk’s Rest Cemetery, that Chet managed and cared for, many years.  Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dearest Magill family: I wanted to express my sympathy on your loss. I have many fond memories of Chet and Ardith from the time spent with them and my parents Ray and Frieda while traveling with the Leadville Elks Ritual Team. I am glad to have known this family.
