Cherrie Lee Martin passed away in her home on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the age of 59.

Cherrie was born on December 10, 1952 in Tulsa, OK. She was the third of four children born to Sim Hoover Paine and Charlene Venita Paine.

She spent most of her childhood in Booker, TX before spending her teenage years in Leesburg, FL. She attended college in Denver, CO at Baptist Bible College West where she met her husband Daniel Ray Martin.

They were married on July 13, 1979 in Denver, CO. Following marriage, they lived in Denver and Mt. Vernon, Texas before settling in Buena Vista, CO in 1990.

In August of 1991, they adopted their son, Shawn Taylor Martin.

Cherrie worked as a bus driver for the Buena Vista School District for 19 years, as well as a shuttle driver for Noah's Ark Whitewater Rafting during the summer months.

She is preceded in death by both parents.

She is survived by her husband, son, brother Jim Paine, and sisters Nancy Carrigan and Cindy Day.

Cherrie was an amazing mother and loving wife. She gave generously of her time and gifts to the community and served selflessly at Mountain Heights Baptist Church, where she, Dan, and Shawn attended for 22 years.

The family has requested that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Darren Patterson Christian Academy. The school was dear to Cherrie and she enjoyed being an active volunteer even after Shawn's graduation.

A private interment will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery.  Memorial service Friday Oct. 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain Heights Baptist Church.

I''m so sorry for your loss. Cherrie was always such a cheerful and cheering person. I loved every minute of the time we worked together for DPCA. No one who spent any time with her could doubt her love for her son, for her husband, and for her God.
