William Douglas Collins, 81. Bill as he was known, was born in Van Lear, Kentucky on October 1, 1938 and passed in Idaho Springs, Colorado on November 27, 2019.

He is survived by his three children Christie Griffith, Corrie Collins, Casey (Wendy) Collins. In addition, he is survived by six grandchildren Cortney Griffith, Hope Griffith, Alex Collins, Shawn Collins, Heather Collins, Megan Collins, and three great-grandchildren Christian Recktenwald, Glorawyn Colver and Thalion Colver. He married Marjorie Veitch in 1963, a Canadian by birth...beginning a family of Canadian Hillbillies. The family lived in Michigan until 1977 then moved to Colorado where he continued to live his dream flying lear jets, as commercial jets were "too slow." He retired in 1997 to his peaceful cabin on the side of the mountain. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, loving and training his dogs, shooting practices with all types of guns, fishing and watching the sunsets from his cozy cabin in awe of the purple mountains majesty. He had numerous adventures and flew all over the world,  including hunting and fishing in Canada and the United States, diving in the Florida Keys, and raising horses in Texas. Bill will be greatly missed and forever remembered as the patriarch of the Collins family. The love he surrounded everyone in his life with, will be in our hearts always.

A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 10:30 am at the United Center in Idaho Springs. Burial will follow at Ft. Logan Cemetery in Denver at 2:15 pm staging area C.
